WHO ARE WE?
CORNERSTONE was established in May 2017 following several months of preparation and arrangements. We were formed when Uckfield Methodist Church and Uckfield United Reformed Church officially joined to create one Christian Church which reflects the traditions of both denominations. WORSHIP & ACTIVITIES
We meet for worship on Sundays at 10:30am. Our worship includes hymns and songs, traditional and modern, accompanied on the organ or piano. We listen to readings from the Bible and pray together. The person leading the service will deliver a talk (sometimes called a sermon or message) to help us consider questions of Christian life and how the Bible applies to our lives as Christians today. We welcome folk of all ages and backgrounds and make particular provision, on Sunday morning, for children and young people. Please click on the question on the right to find out more.
Our minister, Rev Amanda Roper, is responsible for three churches including Crowborough United Church, Buxted Methodist Church and Cornerstone. She generally leads our worship twice each month. On other Sundays our worship is led by a variety of visiting ministers, lay preachers and members of the church.
We normally celebrate Holy Communion (The Lord's Supper) once each month. Full details of our services and other activities can be found on our Diary page. You can also download our bi-monthly magazine from the news page with details of all activities that take place on the church premises.
We are committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of all our members, adherents and visitors and especially children, young people and vulnerable adults. We work in accordance with Methodist and URC guidelines and have an appointed safeguarding officer. A copy of our safeguarding policy is available on request.
CORNERSTONE is committed to promoting fairtrade products and practice for the benefit of all. We make use of fairly traded products such as tea, coffee and biscuits wherever possible. We also promote the sale of fairly traded goods and products, a wide variety of which are made available to purchase at the church.
Protecting God's creation is an important goal and wise stewardship of all that is entrusted to us is our responsibility. CORNERSTONE is currently working towards becoming an Eco-church as part of the UK-wide scheme. We will provide further information as things proceed.
